Standards Bodies
Enigmatec’s active involvement in initiatives such as W3C, OASIS, and the Enterprise Grid Alliance underline our commitment to open standards and the importance of their contribution to the emergence of intelligent computing. Standards de-risk development by avoiding vendor lock in and also increase system interoperability by promoting common communication protocols. The implementation of standards will have far reaching effects on the technology industry.
- Allow diverse applications to be connected
- Ensure longevity of existing applications
- Permit the rapid integration of new processes
- Reduce integration complexity
- Lower the cost of maintenance and support
- Reduce the risk of vendor lock-in
- Reduce development cost
- Introduce new levels of flexibility to system architectures
Enigmatec is a founding member of the Enterprise Grid Alliance, an open consortium focused on developing and promoting enterprise grid solutions. The Alliance will address obstacles that organizations face using enterprise grids, by looking at best practices and solutions that are open and interoperable. By focusing exclusively on the needs of enterprise users, the EGA will enable businesses to realize the many benefits of grid computing such as faster response to changing business needs, better utilization and service level performance and lower IT operating costs.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international consortium where Member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to develop Web standards. W3C primarily pursues its mission through the creation of Web standards and guidelines designed to ensure long-term growth for the Web. Over 400 organizations are Members of the Consortium. W3C is jointly run by the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (MIT CSAIL) in the USA, the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM) headquartered in France, Keio University in Japan, and has additional Offices worldwide.
