Provisioning
Introduction
Server provisioning can be a repetitive and time consuming process for IT staff. Often the business wants to quickly deliver new services to support new marketing programs or help them compete with a rival. However, it is not unusual for the acquisition and provisioning of new hardware to take weeks if not months and this can seriously delay a project and impede business agility.
Lag Time
Most of the time wasted in server provisioning can be attributed to lag time in the process, for example, time where authorization requests are sitting in peoples in-box's or where someone has not got around to doing their part of the pre or post build process. It could be that tens or even hundreds of incident or change request tickets are generated and routed through helpdesks to ensure the appropriate people perform their part of the build process (e.g. install patches, configure security settings etc). This can also causes delays, as tasks are often sequential, meaning someone has to do their bit before passing it on to the next person on the chain. By tackling this lag time and automating the build process in the required order, it's possible to significantly reduce the amount of time it takes to build and provision a server.

Faster Provisioning Through Reduction in Lag Time
The Enigmatec provisioning solution enables both physical and virtual servers to be automatically provisioned. This can be initiated either by the end-user via a self service portal, or automatically, triggered by other mechanisms such as a change request being generated in a service desk. Enigmatec then handles the routing of authorizations, the integration with existing provisioning technologies and the pre and post build server tasks (e.g. network configuration, system / application configuration, user credential update, application provisioning and configuration, patch compliance etc).
A direct benefit of applying automation to the provisioning process is that servers are always built fully compliant with company or regulatory policies, there's no room for human error!
Enigmatec also provide the integration with existing IT Service Management processes, so for example, when a new server is provisioned, a relevant entry in your organizations CMDB would be automatically made.
Leveraging EMS (the underlying IT Process Automation platform), our standard provisioning capabilities have been extended into storage, network, and desktop provisioning.
